Looking East Looking West is a project that was originally undertaken in 2014 by two friends, living on opposite sides of the Atlantic. Ten years later, we’ve decided to give it another go. Each week in 2024 we will post a new diptych. As before, Rebecca’s photos appear on the left, Anna’s on the right.
Rebecca is originally from Scotland, but immigrated to Boston, USA in 2011, where she lives with her husband Evan and cat, Pepper. She works as the project manager for a scientific nonprofit and can usually be found out on a hike or in her garden.
Anna is originally from the Scottish Highlands and lives in the Lothians with her partner Paul and cat, Rocky. She is happiest when near the sea and enjoys being out in the environment whatever the weather. Her work in arts and heritage development takes her across Scotland, sharing in and supporting Gaelic culture.
We met in 2007, whilst working at an academic bookshop in Edinburgh. With a shared interest in cold places, literature, and knitting, we became fast friends. LELW is a means to take the time to notice the world around us and, most importantly, keep connected to one another.
